Nowadays, many people are so busy until they have no time to prepare themselves a healthier food to consume. At the same time, they will just consume some processed foods or junk foods. Of course it's not good for their health and it can also affect the digestive system.
When our digestive system are not able to function properly or it doesn't have the ability to digest foods that we consume, the colon in our body will become weak and it will also form pouches which is called diverticula. When the pouches are inflamed or infected, it is called as a diverticulitis condition.
Diverticulitis Symptoms
A lot of people are unaware about their condition until they experience some symptoms of diverticulitis such as nausea, vomiting, pain in lower abdomen and constipation. Some people will also experience abdominal cramps. So, if you experience one or more of those symptoms, you should go to a doctor as soon as possible for a further check up and treatment.
Keep in mind that don't delay your time to visit a doctor because if the symptoms are left untreated or it doesn't get a proper treatment, it will lead to a more serious problem and your condition will get worse.
Diverticulitis Treatment
One way to treat diverticulitis is through a healthy diet. We have to monitor our daily diet in order to avoid more complication. At the first stage of diverticulitis, it is suggested for us to eat some foods such as plain gelatin, broth and plain water.
If the condition is getting better, patient may start to eat some low fiber foods such as cereal, egg, fruit and other soft foods. In the next stage of diverticulitis condition, patient may start to increase the intake of high fiber foods such as brown rice, wild rice, vegetables and whole grain bread.
Those are some examples of foods to consume when having diverticulitis. It is also advisable to consult with your doctor to create a diverticulitis diet which is designed according to your own health condition. By doing that, hopefully you can recover more quickly.
Well, although diverticulitis can be treated and cured, it's always better for us to lead a healthy life. To avoid diverticulitis and other diseases, we should have a healthy diet every day (avoid junk foods, eat more fruits and vegetables), have a good eating habit (when to eat, what to eat and how much to eat) and perform a regular exercise every day (such as jogging, cycling, brisk walking, swimming). Hopefully by doing that, we can always stay healthy.
